I have just tried five times to email another member only to mis-key and find myself looking at the other member's profile page. The obvious thing for me to do is to click on "send email to member" again. This is rather galling as I momentarily see my previous message input before it disappears and I am presented with a blank email form.
Similarly the same happens if I go to refer to something else and then click a visible part of the browser page to get back to email text.
Looking more carefully I see this happens because the email form has come up in a new window. Why not have the profile page generate a child process rather than a new window for the email form.
Some time ago, I took PostmasterGS's advice, for any length correspondence, I type in "notepad" first That way, any corruption, can immediately be copied and resent.
Nothing worse than typing several paragraphs of text and losing it all in a glitch.
I used my email client to write all my posts and then paste it into the SCF message box when I am ready to post. I then save the 'draft' of the post in a folder in my email client so I always have a searchable way to find all my posts. Don
Thanks, Rod and Don. Those seem reasonable work-arounds for the number of times I use the facility - averaging about once every 2 years. But it is comforting to see that others have had similar issues.
Did you receive my response to your message? I hadn't heard anything back, and a lot of email systems block emails from my address, so I wanted to check.
