"Kelleher seems to take the "holistic" approach selectively if you read through the catalog. The WW lots still detail catalog numbers that draw collectors' attention. I think that the "holistic" lots in this sale are prestidigitation to draw attention away from the lack of strong individual items."

Or the holistic description lots arrived too late for a more standard description and they didn't want to hold them for a later sale where they could be more properly described. Or they have simply accepted more material than they have time to properly describe.

"So we are seeing the same stamps selling from 3 cents each per 100 going up to 10 cents each if sold as 100,000 stamps ,"

No we are not. A 100 or 1000 stamp lot will be nothing more than the most 25c CV common stamps. A 100,000 stamp collection will have to have some higher CV items in it.

REVCOLLCTOR --- Was hoping someone else would respond first .

First it is just a mixture , it has some better stamps but at a price of $30.00 to $35.00 per card it is overprice for what your getting . It is too piece meal and to many brokens sets which doesn't help your collection . If you bought any country collection at that price ,then you will have something .

If you buy these $2,000 or $2500 lots and mount them into your worldwide collection ,me and any buyer will not be able to see the extra value you put into your collection it just gets blended in .
I would not touch them , your better off focus on a country lot or a specialised lot and not do the shotgun approach where the items just get lost .

Let me stick my neck out and say most would not sell or sell on the opening bid .

If collections sell for strong prices without stating all the catalog numbers represented in the collections, why do that work?

It does seem some some stamp auction houses, as well as many eBay stamp dealers, barely bother with describing at all and just take a LOT of photos instead. Not only is it a lot cheaper to hire someone to take photos than to hire a philatelic expert, but it also pushes the responsibility for identification, grading, evaluation, etc to the customer.

FLOORTRADER-not sure who it is you wanted to respond.
Don't misunderstand me, I agree that they are not good lots. One lot has two reference items I would not mind owning (Germany B292-293 with fake cancels), but there is nothing else in any of them for me anyway.

Looks like I will be bidding on two country lots at the next Kelleher Auction .

Both lots are from the William F. Csolkovits Worldwide Collection . There are about 15 lots from his collection in this auction .Should let you know he lived less than a mile from my business in Illinois and five miles from my house . I never knew him ,maybe seen him at Rasdale or the Chicago Stamp Shows .Since we both had the same interest maybe bid against each other at Kelleher or Rasdale .

Hopefully the SAN bidding functions faster than the website which has been slow as molasses the past few weeks.

I looked at that lot earlier. Owner CV is $8K with most of the value in the first page - which is not in the PDF, only visible in the image with lot listing.

I really wonder who bought lot 2096, the first revenue collection. A lot of "questionable" stamps among the imperf and part perf first issues.

If ASDA and APS merge, then all your concerns. All those ASDA dealers selling questionable stamps will mend their ways or more likely just join "AASDA" (Another American Stamp Dealer Association} if they join one at all. I do not think adding badges is going to keep the buyers from buying suspect stamps. It would be interesting to see a profile. They must have a lot of spare money.

Even getting past all the imperf and part perf bogus issues the rest of the collection is not what I would call collectible examples. Many faults and low end items. If someone is trying to flip this I think they will have a hard time recouping their investment.

Yeah, I was at Richard Friedberg's shop when this lot was going live, and he was amazed at the price it brought. According to him it was full of garbage low-quality and spurious items.
