Austria issued this Special Delivery stamp in 1922. The designer Wilhelm Dachauer worked on many Austrian stamps until his death in 1951. Scott QE8 |

Beautiful examples of arrow=speed - thank you, lithograving for sharing. The set of posthorn, tassels and arrows are found in a few other countries, following is one from Hungary, a neighbour from Austria. Hungary 30 June 1958 / Organization of Socialist Countries' Postal Administrations / design: J. Vertel |

Lovely cinderella, Rod - from 1887!! Two scrolls are "Analects" and "Thousand Character Classic", both brought from China and being the 'must-learn' classics at schools. Quote: The Item in the left frame..? Well, I think that is an oar, together with fishing rod and a basket. This is interesting, as the hunting and fishing were what native people did before the Chinese civilisation and rice arrived to Japanese islands. So, out of the frame this stamp is telling the heritage from ancient culture, I would imagine. Maybe the beginning of nationalism, although learning from China and Europe/America (pen and the globe represent)..? |

Quote: Arrows show multiple aspects such as;
direction course movement force attention tendency
…and more.... Here is "and more:" Quote: Couldn't resist posting this - pane of five stamps commemorating the Avro Arrow issued by Canada in 2019. A hypersonic interceptor jet, production was abruptly cancelled by the government in 1959. To your list of, "direction course movement force attention tendency" I must add the primary purpose of the arrow, to pierce (things). So in that light I add: Plus these as well, because if you are struck by an arrow you likely need a first responder-- Pierce Arrow fire trucks all. |

Pierce Arrow - I didn't know about that car manufacturer. Thank you, Parcelpostguy for extending the definition of arrows on stamps! I have looked up about those beautiful cars and found logo and a mascot/head icon with stylish font and arrow depicted. |

I had very different idea of arrow on the gender symbol. In fact, they have their roots in Greek astrological signs, Mars and Venus... For me the philately is the entrance for unknown world! Sweden 28 August 1984 / Centenary of Fredrika Bremer Association for promotion of male/female equal right / design: T. Hultgren, engrave: M. Mörck and C. Slania |
