Been poking around for months but never made an introduction. My name is John I work in the security industry and teach forensics and forensic photography. My collecting interests vary from plain US stamps and FDCs. to ship covers with the USS New Jersey being my largest collection. I also collect stamp show covers and military and my better 1/2 collects space covers. In topical stamps I focus on Nudes but also have other smaller collections of Keys and rubber ducks. New topics in both covers and stamps keep expanding.

jdtrue66,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

@hoosierboy Thank you! I am a little past the basic questions after almost 50 years collecting but I think that may be why I did not post anything even an introduction for months. I don't have the basic questions but also not the subject expert many other members are. I also whole hardly agree with the postal history. I love to find the unique cover at a Bourse.
