Put money in one end and receive manure out of the other end.

As to the original question: How To Go Broke As A Stamp Collector

Yes. (it's an expensive hobby)

It can be, it doesn't have to be. Nobody is forcing anyone to fork over a fortune for pieces of paper.

Essentially it's really just trading pieces of paper for other pieces of paper.

Although up here in CanadaLand, it's some strange polymer plastic type stuff for paper lol. Yay Monopoly money!

And then there's "lets try breeding racehorses", an unhappy decision taken by a friend.

I had a boss who sunk all his money into raising..... (are you ready?).... OSTRICHES for meat! He heard that the latest and greatest next-great-thing was going to be ostrich-burgers. Can you imagine being stuck with a 'flock' of ostriches??? He was.

One overlooked area of collecting that can be done on the cheap is selvage. Endless possibilities and you can store them in Ziplock bags.

OMG!! I have never watched King Of The Hill, so this is all new to me. That is too funny!! You wanna hear something even funnier? My boss (NOT Buck Strickland) was the boss at a compressed gas distributor!!! No kidding! And I hesitate to reveal this, but my real first name is Hank. I swear on all that is good and holy that this is true!

I worked there in the mid 1990's, so before King Of the Hill.

Three Australian auctions in two days later this week: Status, Phoenix & Millenium. Everyone is in a rush to chase our money
