Hi, There is a note in Unitrade magazine for messy and tag wash on some Bk318 caused by improperly tagging mats cleaning. I also have this on the other two floral booklets in this series, Bk319 and Bk320. Was this tagging problem also detected on your booklets 319 and 320, or is this pure coincidence?

Hi:

This is the way all of the booklets in the set looked. The tagging process was poor and resulted in very uneven and weak tagging bars on the stamps (never completely missing though, except on a few booklets where the tagging was omitted in error on the left column of the $1.49 booklet). The same weak tagging occurred on coils produced with the same values (and the first class rate 51c value) as they were printed on the same press by Lowe-Martin.

Later reprints (particularly on coils) had somewhat improved tagging, but all of the stamps in this set had weak and uneven tagging.
