Hi, Everyone!

I specialize in Danish West Indies and have about 35 stamps with old certs and about another 40 that need certs. Lasse Nielsen has retired, and Jay Smith is on pause for certifying material, so I'd appreciate thoughts regarding Lars and Carl. They are both members of AIEP. I do have some certs from Møller that came with purchases, which is how I ended up with most of the certificates I have.

I'm not into collecting certificates, but it will make it a lot easier when the time comes to sell, particularly if my demise precedes the sale! Thank you!

I collect DWI too and have some Moller certs. I'd ask Jay his opinion on the certs. What are the certs for? Specific printings of the bi-colors? Postal history?

Laeding,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

Hi, Philazilla!

I have a highly specialized collection: printings, varieties, cancels, etc, most often the bicolors. Just picked up a really nice strip of three 7 Cents with the "thick frame Caroe's Cut" being the middle stamp. Already had a couple of singles, so am very happy to add this piece. A Nielsen cert came along with it which hadn't been mentioned but will go in the file with the rest of them.

I don't get too heavy into postal history, which I know is kind of odd for being a DWI collector, I typically sell or swap it. Have a pile right now that came with a collection purchased awhile back, which includes a nice card to the Algiers.

One of my relatives, Albert Heinrich Riise (typically seen as "A.H. Riise), was the well-known businessman and pharmacist in St. Thomas who officially regummed the first issue (his was the yellow gum, the other pharmacist in Christensted the brown gum). I do collect postal history related to Riise a little bit.

I have a message out to Jay -- just waiting to hear back from him. I'm going to message both Lars and Carl to learn what their respective fee schedules are.

Thanks!
