rrogers -

The second one is a local use, one Yen purple, general revenue, from Saitama.

Hope this helps you,

Hi Peter, There were several pictures sent to me by a friend. He said "I believe these are Japanese revenue stamps that were locals for the prefecture of Saitama"
I was trying to confirm that and also find catalogue references.

And, Thanks Linus for the link, I've bookmarked the main site.

@Peter4522: They are all Japanese. I can read part of the text, but no idea about what they are for.

The first one could be a Tokyo metropolis local revenue.

As is the one above it.
The Beetles in the corners are curious.

The bottom one may be related to a poll tax/voting fee, or something similar.

Hi rrogers.
They are all Japanese. As I don't have any catalogue listing revenue stamps, I am trying to help you to read what it says at least.

First of all, they are all written from right to left - means they are before 1947. First one is revenue stamp issued by Tokyo City. The second one is for some kind of official charge paid to Saitama prefecture. The last one is a receipt from Saitama pref. for a charge to check quality of rice, for selling it to outside from the prefecture.

After I made this image above (Japanese letter typing is not accepted for this forum controller), I found these links below. The last one I cannot find, but top two are there.

It says the first issue date is unknown, the end of issue was maybe 1 July 1943. I guess that date was when Tokyo City was changed to Tokyo Metropolitan. On the right hand, it says that this revenue stamp is alike looking to issued by Tokyo Metropolitan - that is because Tokyo Metropolitan office succeeded the design of the revenue from Tokyo City. So, Hilik's guess was very close.

It says the issued dates were from 1 April 1920 to 1 April 1934.

This personal museum has a lot of contents! This collector's cover page is this;

and the Revenue Stamps "room" is this;
