Hi Everyone: I began collecting stamps shortly after I married a very young girl back in 1960. I was then serving in the U. S. Marine Corps and we went on to retire therefrom in 1973. She had a basic beginners stamp album; it caught my interest and over the years I progressed to the Harris U. S. Liberty Stamp Album and thence to a 3 volume set of Harris Standard World Stamp Albums. I found the US Revenue stamps and Postage Due stamps quite interesting.

I completed the US Harris album ("modern era) up to 1978, and with the advent of sheet images I ceased collecting, except for the random cancelled stamps. I shifted focus to First Day Covers but discovered, except for historical purposes, it did not hold my interest for more than about a dozen years.

Recently I came across sheets of 1930 National Philatelic Exhibition (NPE) stamps inside two 8" x 10" envelopes, 4 sheets of the different colors; unfortunately they were stuck together. I probably should have asked for advice prior to soaking them in warm water, but...anyway, a few of the sheets came out whole, the others somewhat.

Being curious, I logged on to 1930 NPE Stamps and discovered this Stamp Community. We have four children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; none have gravitated to stamp collecting and it is doubtful that they will. Therefore, rather than see these stamps languish unappreciated and unseen, I thought to introduce them here.

Enjoy having fun with stamps! That is the name of this game.

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ
