I saw this and thought of the collection someone was going to build from packets. Notice only 12 pictures now.

Are you buying it? I've noticed he doesn't ship outside the USA. If he was to ship abroad, it probably would have more than doubled the price.

I like the albums ,that's where my interest would be if they are complete ,neat, clean and in order . Put in a few thousand better complete sets then sell for 4X the price .

Not a seller I would buy from without having a good long time to examine the collection.

Want to start a stamp collection, got a few quid/dollars to blow? This would be a great start. Not for me these days, but it would be fun. How high do you think it will go, oh maestro of Chitown?

Anthony's is one of the ASDA dealers that I complained to them about back when he was selling all kinds of dubious classic US. They never even responded to me. The forum search engine will return lots of hits regarding Anthony's.

Strange there's one bidder and the price has incremented twice. That usually require another bidder doesn't it?

I wouldn't touch this unless I wanted the albums and then I'd make certain they were complete. He's selling 23 sparse albums and lots of cheap packet stamps.
If there are 500,000 stamps and they do catalog $200,000 that an average catalog value of 40c, not for me!

Got bit a few weeks back, never again. Thankfully, was able to return for a refund, but had to pay for return postage w/tracking.

Doesn't take long looking at sold items to see stamps with issues and buyers overpaying.

The stamps look like they may be stuck to pages.

This lot will sell at a much higher price ,you got two good items here .

First the albums have value if complete .They are worth something lets just say $50.00 or $60.00 per volume wholesale ,maybe $1,500 retail . They do look nice as a set if clean and complete .

Then the packets of stamps even if just packet material if sold on Ebay as mixtures your getting $5,000 or a penny per stamp . Mount a few thousand on stock cards and your getting 4 or 5 cents each .

Yes a person can double their money at these prices ,so thats why I said it will go higher . Not sure how filled the albums are but rip out the pages as country lots and your up to 10 to 15 cents per stamp . Only viewing everything can you make a clear decision on how to sell it .

I just looked at the prices multi-volume worldwide albums , they are EXPENSIVE ...that is a understatement I can't believe prices .

So if someone has a 5 or 8 volume collection which is over stuffed with pages, this can give them a opportunity to advance up to a large set but at the same time they don't have to transfer all their stamps since these albums are already filled of the low values , all they have to move the 20 or 40% . Then have a bigger more impressive display of their albums

For me, this is a pretty straight forward listing...
1. When buying on eBay I have learned over the years to always expect the worse unless I know the seller.
2. With this seller, I would expect the worse.
3. Anyone actually viewing this group in person will have a huge advantage over those who don't. Since I can't view it, I won't be bidding.

They don't allow viewing when I asked one time they said they weren't set up that way, but you could call them and talk about items. I called about a collection and asked if the collection was intact and all appropriate countries were represented. When I received the collection ALL the larger countries had been removed. Rather than send it back we worked out a credit deal, but I haven't dealt with them since.

IMHO, it is the height of folly to purchase such a lot based on 12 images. Normally for a lot like this, a seller would have hundreds of additional images in the description section, which is good for seller (better representation of the lot if it is desirable) and for the buyer (better idea what is being bid on).

Why does the listing not contain many more images?

It would be a hard pass from me.

John
