Alie,
TIP : Russia is very hard work, but eased with the dates on the stamps.

Plonking a bunch randomly may turn members off replying
Try to offer your stamps with numbers underneath #1 #2 #3 etc
so collectively we can try and assist

For example the 4 kopec stamps number in my collection to 626 stamps

Your first stamp is Sc#5656 1988 Lenin Museum
Bottom right is Sc#4834 1980 04k anacht

Alie, one thing you can try is go to www.stampworld.com This website lists almost all regular stamps of all countries
Also, checking Ebay, Hipstamp or Delcampe might help. I realize all this is a lot of work, but this is a hobby!

Thank you rod222!

I will for sure accept your once again wise advice.

Thank you for taking the time to steer me in the right direction, I do appreciate it.

I'll make sure to only post one stamp at the time or a few numbered ones.

Multiples are OK, Alie, as long as you present them perhaps in date order
and numbered.

I can then make XYPlorer go to work, and ID your stamps in a trice.

Quote:
a powerful file search,

Example: I have 360,000 Postage stamp related images

I received a stamps swap from Dianne
One stamp was a "Wild Strawberry"

I entered the text string "wild straw" in the search box
It took one second! to find
Sc#1350 canada 1991
National Wildlife federation 1951 Cinderella

I already had the stamp, so into "duplicates" it goes

If you end up being a world wide collector, XYPlorer can be handy
$35 US
About the same price as Steiner DVD

I just scrolled through USSR 1962-1991. I had received 50 USSR stamps tonight (still not my favorites.) But wow! With stampfinder, I found all the answers I was looking for!

Two last questions.

1. What is the technical term for this (I know it was attached to a stamp at one time).
2. What is it? It was in that 1962-1991 USSR stash.

Hi Alie,
I refer to them as "Stamp Tabs" or Labels if you will,

I currently have 400 or so, some identified some not.
Russia has quite a few

I'll have look for yours

Nope,
I drew a blank on the fellow.
Some members will no doubt have the answer. (who can read the script)
It MAY BE a central tab, between a brace of "paintings: circa 1982

Example
Sc# 5103A 1982
