I have this block in my WW block collection, cancelled in Saint Etienne, Loir from 1950. I can find this town on a map, but I was wanting to know what the "R P" in the cancel means. I read on Wikipedia that this town has 5 railroad train stations, so this might be a railway post cancel? Just a wild guess, probably not.

Just wondering what this R P means.

Linus

RP = Recette Principale (something like GPO)

Sounds like the French version of Green Bay, Wisconsin, home of the Packers!

Did France have railway post office cancels? Surely, they must have had them.
