Mirman, 5K in a year is very good progress! I typically can do about 2-4K a year. I like your rainy idea. Some of my fondest memories is working on stamps when the weather is lousy, but I also don't mind a good sunbeam too ;)

@landoquakes -- yes it is ambitious but I thought it was feasible as I have a lot of stuff that's been presorted and sometimes needs a second look for perf, wmk, tagging and even cancels. I do not really collect cancels except for some events or my calendar collection (a stamp a day - my count is 266 days so far) without buying anything in the last few years. Not there yet but on track!

Here is something modern and very rare ----It is on a cover front to prove it was used in regular mail . This is not something expensive but being used on regular mail and kept to show how it was used makes for a interesting piece . I had to cut it off the cover to show it the way I mounted it . It will be a page in my New Zealand album.

It doesn't appear to be canceled or otherwise tied to the cover? What's the year in the cancel?

CJD --- The cancelation date on the cover front is Jan. 17 ,1988 which is 4 days after issue .

What makes this overprinted souvenir sheet rare is the use on a piece of regular postage . No question that it can be found unused or used off cover but actual usage would be difficult to find .

Here is a another completed set added to my collection . It has been a fun project to keep adding different complete sets to my albums .

One of the saddest things about building a large worldwide collection is not seeing parts that you worked on during the early part of your collection journey . Here is a example of something from maybe 10 or 15 years ago . that once completed and mounted you put that part in your album ,then not looked at again for many years.

Because your always moving on to other areas and new interest and new pages On this page it could be even 25 years since I last seen it .

I doubt that is what the postmark actually says. The $2 stamp it is tied to wasn't issued until 2001.

Zendo 59 , Thanks for that correction ,The cancel does read Jan 17 , with the year unclear . The complete cover came to me in a large worldwide lot from Dutch Country Stamp Auction

Also thankful to the postal clerk in New Zealand for not messing up the special Souvenir Sheet with that large cancelation ,that he put on the cover.

floor - I have not seen those French made illegals before (the French style is very obvious). Do you know what year they are from?

EYEONWALL --Those stamps came from the inventory of James C. Czyl {1947- 21014 } ,who was a Cinderella Expert and authority. I never followed up on them other than just make a page for them in my Cindy collection .

Here is the bio . on James
