I counted 27 items from this collection. I was able to estimate the sales value of each lot by comparing it to my sales database. I couldn't tell the actual projected sale price but I could rank them from low to high and choose the ones I wanted to bid on. I only got 6 but bid on 9 more so my underbidding cost someone a few $. I believe if I wasn't bidding it would have been nowhere near $11,000 total. I think if I was bidding on the whole thing I would have bid $12-13K.
While we're talking auctions I was disappointed in the latest Kelleher Collections auction that is coming up. I didn't see anything I really wanted and may not even bid.

Ken - Thanks for your input ,so with 27 lots with a average price of $500.00 per lot . it would come out at about $13,500 plus juice added to that the MINKUS collection would cost $16,000 . Which is a nice price .
What I like about this Minkus collection is the many long sets on each page .Any buyer would look at these lots as having the ability to fill pages in their own collection . |

Ken R. ------ Welcome to Florida , after I finish filling up a set of Scott International placed in white three ring binders ,you will be able to save me shipping cost and commission fees if I put this up for auction with a auction house , Naturally you will save the 20% plus shipping cost . The pages where cut 1/2 inch on the right side and 1/4 off the top and then three holes where punched to fit the binders . This set is my working set before I transfer to my main collection of Internationals . |

I expect to move to the Ft Myers area within the next 2 months, and then maybe we could work something out. Those auction surcharges and shipping do add up!

Used my new set of Scott International's which had the pages cut down and placed in three ring binders . These new binders have the "D" rings which keep the pages from sliding around if your not using interleaves over the old style "O" rings . Much easier to handle getting off the bookcase and putting them back .
Added the ARGENTINA -Official Department Stamps printed on Steiner Pages ,these are stamps normally never mounted correctly in Scott Albums . |

WILLWOOD 42 --- Here are a sample of my Steiner Pages for the Argentina Offical Deprtment Stamps . This is what I been working on this past week . I made a decision a few years ago not to spend my money on a few hundred expensive stamps to fill my worldwide collection but to fill my collection with the unusual stuff that many collection are lacking . This is one of many hundreds of items not found in most W.W. collections . |

Nice, I like them. Many varieties of these and then the watermark direction...more...varieties......... I have a start on them, I could use more time! One "correct way" I try to mount them is watermark upright, it can get messy! I have many to go through, if I am still addicted to stamps in my retirement I will have plenty to do! |

I'll give a quick report on the Minkus Collections I bought from DCA.
They arrived in good order as usual from DCA and they were all in decent Minkus Binders. From the description I wasn't sure binders would be included. After that it was all down hill. I immediately noticed blank pages, lots and lots of blank pages. The description mentioned the pages went into the 1990s but forgot to mention the stamps all ended in 1966-1968 leaving 80% of the pages completely empty. I would never buy a collection with this much empty space. The stamps that were there were "pretty good" not great but fairly easy for me to sell. I broke the 1st volume down into 14 lots and have listed them all this week. It was lot 1430 and I paid $425 so we'll see how I do. I expect to make a profit but not much.
It just annoys me when the auction house uses tricky wording to fool the bidder, it's not supposed to be that way. |
