Is that what this would be considered. If so, that's cool. Is this something every stamp club does? If this isn't a repeat topic then I'd love to see some of your examples.

Yup, I think this is purely philatelic. I guess one clue is the absence of an address ? By the way, to find out if something has been covered before just do a "search" on this forum. There is a "search" button on every page, right where you log in

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm not fluent in Philatelicanese yet ;) and am not sure what words to use. I searched Philatelic Covers and expected to see it pop up as a topic. It didn't so I figure I may have put the wrong terms in the search box. Do you have any you'd like to share? If, of course , this isn't a repeat topic. |

This is what I'm talking about! Heck yeah. This is perfect. Seriously, thank you.
I will keep saying it, this board rocks.
Edit: do you have any of these type of covers you'd like to share? |

I never get tired of the pleasure, I find looking at the "Stampsmarter" bookcase. Something magical, Rows and rows of people's minds, in black and white.

I have many letters that friends who attend events send me, they are philatelic, yes, but they are circulated letters. There are also friends who send me philatelic letters because they simply want to do so. Some even decorate them. |

I know for sure that this piece of mail came from a non-stamp collector, just an art-orientated person with a sense of humor I do not consider it philatelic, but I am sure that for many of those who do not know the sender would probably assume that it is... Don |

MrNewStampington, what you show is just the tip of the iceberg for what would fall under philatelic covers. Non-standard/fancy cancels often used at events can be found by searching "pictorial cancels", "fancy cancels", or "special event covers". Not every show does/did what Mid-Hampex did, but for quite a few, it has become a regular feature. The US post office must attend an event to merit a special cancel.
Will put up a few of the US pictorial covers when I dig them out.

I realize now how personal a stamp collection can be, it's a lively hood and for some , ultimately, a retirement. It's a passion, a love, and sometimes a means to pass down to your family. I got these stamps in 2016 , I'm not going to tell you what stamps were originally in this man's collection. You wouldn't believe me. The man who sold them to me stole them back over time because I simply just didn't look up the values and didn't think about it until it was too late. Honestly, I would be able to retire right now. Knowing what I know now, I bet I could find out who the original owner was by using these covers as a key starting point? Agree? Edit to clarify: I'm talking about provenance. |

I often wallpaper my outgoing FC mail with 3 cent commemoratives. Are these covers philatelic? |
