Very nice set, thank you guys.

I see where there was only 300,000 printings of that particular stamp.

That doesn't sound like a lot.

For Eastern Bloc countries that is normal. Many Russian issues are printed in the same quantity range. There are some 1990's Russian booklets that had issue quantities of a few thousand and yet you can still purchase them from the Post office at face cost. I have trust issues with some countries published info.

Objectively, maybe not. But at the time Bulgaria had a population of only about 8.6m, so 300k of this issue was plenty.

I have several Russian friends. I, regularly, send postcards to four of them. I also write letters to one of them. That is the fast majority of non-official, if not all mail they receive. In my experience, writing letters and affixing stamps is not something Russians have done a lot in recent years or distant years.
