I have a few partial sheets of "peace on earth" 10c SC#1552

my dad had them in different stock books but they all seem to have similar qualities
1)The face of the stamp sticks to Glassine
2)The Stapms themselves are not well adhered to the sheet paper.

just curious if this is a stamp problem of that issue since I've never seen this with other self adhesive stamp sheets

#1552 was the first self-adhesive stamp experiment from the USPS in 1974 -- almost 50 years ago. I have some self-adhesive ink-jet mailing labels from just 10 years ago that have lost their stick. Point being, yes that is a fairly common occurrence for that issue. The storage environment (heat and humidity) likely also plays a factor.

The Scott Specialized catalog says "Most examples are becoming discolored from the adhesive" which may imply the adhesive bleeds into the front of the stamp, and that may be causing the face of the stamp to now be sticky.

Agree.
Mine have become discoloured, and part of the face lifting.

Opinion:
always was I think, it was the type of backing paper that releases gum easily.
I see it even now with my Avery stationery labels.

I don't see the degradation of these US weather vane labels as derogatory, rather, Philatelic history, and the advancement of the self adhesive journey.
