This bond ($1000 for the Cincinnati and Springfield Railway Company), from the 1890s, has three Revenue Stamped paper impressions. One is the $1 RN-W2, and the two others are the RN-P5. Each of these impressions are listed in Scott with a value on document (RN-W2 $85, RN-P5 $45). Is the stamped impressions catalog
valuation the sum of these ($175), or just the highest value ($85)?
What I am trying to understand is the value enhancement (to compare to catalog value) based on:
a) base case of single impression on small simple document (CV reference)
b) enhancement of having 3 instead of 1
c) Large, ornate document
I understand that valuation can be somewhat of an art once an item strays from the listed conditions in the catalog, and am looking for guidance.
