I am sure everyone has at least one of these, usually prepared and sent by a dealer, or a philatelic friend or even by someone who just knows that you collect stamps. If push came to shove, this would be my favourite, though there are several close seconds. How about you?
I don't think that anyone sets out to collect these philatelic covers. It is just that they crop up and are so, what's the best word, exuberant, that they are irresistible. Like yours. I love it!
Another one here with a color theme. The green star is an Esperanto symbol. The rubber-stamped words on the back mean "Long live Esperanto! Use green postage stamps!"
This one is send to Nairobi, unfortunally the backcower is missing with the Nairobi postal stamp, not many of these cover exist and I found it in a hoard of covers that I bought.
Over the top and out of this world carried from from a small (under 10,000 folks) town to the post office and from the post office onward to Washington D.C. Not a bad journey for 16 cents in postage, even if overpaid by 8 cents.
The USPS, a major stamp dealer and postal history creator started on July 1, 1971. Just four weeks and four days later they provided the illustrated FDC cover. As a citizen of the USA, I am part of the US Government and in turn have about 1/300,000,000th ownership as do many of you.
