Even in Denmark Europe I often find US-Stamps precancelled and other US-stamps when I buy larger collections. I often just put the stamps in a stockbook or put them aside, I am well aware it is common stamps.

This is what I found recently in a stockbook I bought for ½ $ the stoockbook was ok, well worth the big spending :-) I thought at that price I won't go broke.

I did the same thing for years and now am starting to sort out my precancels (Canada, US, Belgium, & France). I started some springback albums with blank pages for Belgium and US stamps as the other two countries I was able to add precancels to existing space in their respective albums. Are you thinking of doing that with the American precancels? Just a warning, there are literally millions of individual stamps. At least the Belgian stamps have an attainable limit.

Viking123,

Nice starter collection of precancels, some of which are dated (excellent ancillary collection).

Quickly diving into precancels is easy as there is a seller on eBay who regularly offers 10,000 similar precancels for just over $200.00

In the event that you are not already aware, there is an overwhelming amount of literature, catalogs, and knowledge at the Precancel Society (www.precancels.com).

Have fun.

Greg

@DeeBee

I just collect Precancelled stamp from the US the sam way as I collect Perfins, I put them aside and maybe one day I start to sort the stamps.

I collect Belgium and I think the precancelled of Belgium is way easier to collect than US-Precancelled there is really a lot.

@JustAnotherSwell

I had a look at the Precancel Soceity homepage, very informative, thank you, I think I just keep putting the precanceleld aside when I find them, that is a collelcting area I have never seen the like, I downloade some of the pages to read about Precancelled, I might have to read it twice to understand all the posibilities for the overprint.

I have a plan buying US-stamp from now on when put up for sale in my stamp club.

If you ever get to the point where you have organized into 'what you have' and 'what you can trade' let me know. I just finished putting all my duplicates in a small stockbook and am ready to trade for what I need. Both US & Belgium precancels.

@Deebee

I will have you in mind but then I have to put them aside from now on, as I have small challenges finding specific stamps. I have given a lot of stamps away to collectors in the stamp club I am a member of also precancelled from US, Belgium and France.

I have my stamps in boxes, stockbooks at my Ceiling in boxes, I have 3 archieves 1m20*0,3m*0,5m stocked with stamps I have collected over time totally unorganizede, 2 cabinets 2m20 with stockbooks and archives

I been a member at ebay for more than 20 years, signed up at the German ebay before Euro's was introducede in the late 1990's. I am signede up at a lot of other auction houses.

Now I have some sparetime and is starting to put it all togheter and once in a while I come a cross something interesting.

I am still buying a lot of litteraure for the areas I want to collect, need that to sort things out.

I have the Scott albums Covering the world, Michel, Sassone, Facit, AFA, Zumstein and a lot of specialized litterature. I am limitting my collections to the 1950´s. I still buy stamps at auctions, can't seem not to make a bargain :-)

Sometimes I buy stamps online which I know I have, but can't find, it is easier than going through it all when putting country collections up at homemade pages.
