I've been separating my '94, '95 Bureau Issues and came across this 272 orientation that's "reversed rotated right". I've read from StampSmarter that this occurs on stamps printed vertically such as Booklet Stamps... but that shouldn't be the case for a 272, correct?

Also, the bottom curvature of the "S" seem to be wide compared to a usual DL watermark, or is it just my imagination?

Watermarks maybe found normal, reversed, inverted, inverted reversed, and sideways.

From Scott's US Specialized, Introduction Pages, Watermarks, last paragraph.

Online US resource for watermarks

Note interactive tool named PopUp Location Tool which gives you a good idea of how varied most US watermarks can be.

Thanks PPG and Don!

And thank you again Don for StampSmarter.
I actually posted this because of this statement under "Watermark Orientations":

Quote:
The lower denomination stamps, which include most of the coil stamps, were printed using the horizontal, that is "non-rotated" watermarks illustrated below. Booklet stamps, and some higher denomination stamps, were printed on smaller sheets with the watermarks sideways ( the "rotated" stamps below). Thus a one or two cent coil with a sideways (vertical) watermark has a high likelihood of being a fake made from a booklet stamp.

I suppose an 8c could be considered a "higher denomination", meaning it comes from smaller sheets?

Instead of getting too deep into the weeds of booklets and coils .... note this paragraph about plate size just before Scott 264 in the U.S. Specialized catalog:
