Hi, I don't know if this is my system and router or not, but I've tried to connect with Sergio Sismondo's site several times tonight and am receiving an error message.
I was hoping that someone else could try also, as I'd like to send in a few stamps for certification.
Or is anyone aware of any news about Liane and Sergio Sismondo maybe being no longer in business?
Thanks, Ray

If you refer to the 'sismondostamps' site, that returns a '403 Forbidden error.' |

I heard that Sergio had a stroke and that they had stopped taking dealer tables at shows. I don't have any more details (and cannot confirm the accuracy of what I heard). |

Quote: I heard that Sergio had a stroke and that they had stopped taking dealer tables at shows. As of when, recently? They had a table at Chicagopex in late November. |

I spoke with them on the phone back in January 2023.
Sent a letter several weeks ago without receiving a response yet. |

That is very sad. Sergio left some VERY big shoes to fill. My heart goes out to his wife and family.
PS: Another warning that the hobby really needs younger generations to step up in every facet of philately. What Sergio did took decades to learn. It makes me wonder if the APS, PF and others have apprenticeship programs to pass on the knowledge. |

Some of us are doing our best rogdcam A giant indeed. It's getting more difficult to find people with that level of devotion in any field. |

I know that there have been calls made about obtaining his philatelic library. |

I'll be shocked if he hadn't made arrangements for the orderly disposition of his library. On the odd chance he didn't, his wife, Liane, knows the stamp world inside and out. We can be sure it won't be tossed out. |

I hope his books and research papers are donated to the APS Library .What I know about stamp auction firms is the books will be auction off as boxes of books in lots and all the loose papers and newspaper clippings will end up in the trash . Remember he also had his stamp exhibits that won awards . |

Not to mention the many thousands of records related his expertizing business. All of the certificate copies and related documentation. |

These records need to be conserved and made accessible for reference. Especially given the challenges posed by forged certificates, doctored certificates, "improved" bad stamps, stamps rebirthed without their bad certificates etc. |
