Jim at https://bigblue1840-1940.blogspot.com/ uses Steiner pages which cover 1840-1940 plus he includes British Commonwealth issues to 1952 and reports a count of 83,458 spaces in the pages of which 950 are for stamps for the United States.

I use the current Scott 1A1-1B2 plus other parts pages and, currently, show 34,598 issues for the Part I set, 16,850 for Part II, 13,941 for Part III, 8,623 for Part IV, and 11,694 for Part V (through 1963) for a total of 85,706 issues in the International pages. My counts include the counts of the cut squares, etc. that are part of the 1A1-1B2, Part II, Part III, Part IV, and Part V (through 1963) pages whereas Jim excludes those issues from his Steiner based pages. I have had several corrections of miscounts in my original issues counts that I have encountered as progress continues on the collection. Currently I am at 49.28% complete for 1840-1963 and 49.07% complete for 1840-1940. All stamps in the albums are mint. The USA portion is currently at 580 of 717 issues with 14 missing back of the book issues, i.e. Scott #'s that start with a alphabetic character.

Very useful information - thank you. I suppose there could be other additions if all classic Steiner is added in - i.e., USA Revenues which are not included in the "basic" Steiner classic file but available there as well. I'm sure there are other additions from other countries that could be counted, when you go from Big Blue to Deep Blue.

Part II - 16,857 spaces (1941-49)

I happened to be looking at a sale listing for part II yesterday. The title page indicates that it's copyright 1953 and has "spaces for over 16,000 varieties" and that it's " formerly the International Junior Album".

Callon:

I saw that Part II yesterday, too. It covers mid-1940 to mid-1949, which should line up with my Part I, which is 1840 to mid-1940 (1947 version). I snagged it this morning for less than $30, including shipping. Flyleaf/Title page looks a bit wonky but it otherwise appears to be not much used and in good shape. Includes the binder. My end goal is to not go much past 1952 with the Blues...

If you end your blues in 1952, you miss the great majority of Elmore James and BB King, all of Howlin' Wolf and the classic West Side Chicago sides of Otis Rush and Magic Sam. Best to run into the early-1960s.

Oh that was you? Nice! I considered bidding on it just because it was so cheap. Then I thought, it wouldn't fit well with my current efforts to expand with the Harris binders. And I have plenty to do already for quite a few months. If I buy everything that looks like a good deal, I'll spend way too much money and have too much stuff unless I get into selling too, and besides, other deals will certainly come along. Stick with things that fit my current plans.

So yeah…I'm finding that sometimes I have to talk myself out of overdoing it. #128578;
