The image of the back side would be more revealing to us against a black background, and even better still with a couple drops of watermark fluid on it. |

Next image iteration suggestion ....While it is good to have a normal-quality scan of the front and back, the back image is very overexposed. Try tweaking the lighting and contrast toward the dark/extreme side. The point being to show the features in question, rather than have perfect exposure. |

I assume that we are looking to see if this is another Uber-rare quatrefoil watermarked 2 Mark stamp worth five figures? |

I can certainly see several distinct lozenges on the wet backside scan. |

It is a difficult one, but I do see what look like a few lozenges. Granted, it is a shape I am looking for and the brain may be seeing what the eyes are looking for. |

Nsk Thanks - I think I'm going made. If you rotate the stamp to landscape - I think I see writing all over the back

The stamp is quite old and it may have picked up something during its life. It is normal for the brain to relate what we see to what we know. It may have picked up printing from an old album. It may just be dirt that your brain is trying to transform into recognisable letters. When I look long enough to see the writing you refer to, I start seeing letters where I did not see them before you wrote that. It has nothing to do with going mad and all with how our brains work. After all, if you see black and golden lines in the shrubbery, you might want to start running rather than find out if it is a piece of fabric. |

Agree Thank you That last picture-When viewed landscape if you look at bottom middle - it has to be writing! I see v22 or 522 The very defined writing underneath. Maybe I'm wrong |

I do not see it. However, I am sure I shall start seeing it when I look at it long enough. So, maybe some other members can share their observations. |
