Hello fellow collectors and philatelists! I just joined this community and I look forward to sharing views and information with everyone. I'm out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I collect U.S. pre 1940 with particular interes in the 19th century classics. I also am an avid collector of U.S. Zeppelin flown covers (C13-15 and C18) and, more recently, U.S. plate proofs of the classic stamps. Best collecting wishes to all!

Welcome. I have to say, that Farragut does whet my appetite to see more of your collection in the near future.
Quite a bit of philatelic knowledge here in the forum in the form of current subscribers and in past postings (the search feature can turn up quite a bit of useful and interesting information so I commend it to you.)

MurphThePerf, Enjoy having fun with stamps! That is the name of this game. Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby. Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ |

Acquiring a nice $5 Columbian (mint or used) is always a landmark moment for a US classics collector. Hope you enjoy my "landmark." |
