Just received the new 2024 Scott Catalogues; first two available volumes. Inside the heavy shrink-wrapped, sealed packaging I found two copies of Volume 1B, instead of one each of Volumes 1A and 1B. See images. Anyone else have their initial excitement fizzle with this discovery? Pre-orders are shipping this past week and probably arriving the next few days. Obviously I contacted Scott/Amos immediately at *** Private information removed by Staff. Please do not post your address/email/phone number etc. ***, with no immediate response. If this is a widespread error, I hope you're not a victim, having to wait for them to ship the correct volume (in this case, the volume 1A for the USA issues). <sigh>

NOT an auspicious start and could be very costly if a system failure. I wonder if they subcontract the packaging and distribution or if they eat their mistakes.

Waiting to see if others have similar experience.

Hopefully its a packing mistake where It is possible only one other received two copies of volume 1A. No doubt you will hear something, and probably get a Return to sender mail chit for duplicate or both, but then again they may be busy sending out the orders. I did not realise the new volumes were released so soon.

Sorry, you are not the victim, the victim is and will remain Amos Press, especially if this was a long lasting packaging irregularity. Hopefully it will be limited to just one or two pallets when the volume 1 was assembled from 1A and 1B.

This can also be a disaster for the dealers who do huge pre-sale sales if they have to eat returns and reshipments. A packaging mistake such as this could severely cost more money that some sellers can absorb.

Edit: I just alerted Michael Jaffe Stamps in Vancouver WA. The due a huge pre-sale and receive the catalogs by the full pallet loads. Left a message at Wizard Supply Chantilly, VA as well.

The reply late this afternoon (Thurs the 6th):

"I apologize for the error, please discard the incorrect duplicate book and we will have the correct one sent. Thanks. Nicki Ingle - Customer Service Representative - Amos Media Company"

While I am glad they replied quickly, I don't intend to "discard" the duplicate -- a ridiculous & wasteful notion, when there are collector clubs and others who would be pleased to take it off my hands.

Discarding is in fact what you are doing in as much as you do not plan to keep the item. It matters not if it goes to the recycle bin, worm bin, fireplace, library or other collector you are in fact ridding yourself of a surplus item, AKA, discarding.

As to Amos suggesting you discard the item, they understand it is not cost effective to pay to have a USED copy returned, processed back into stock as a used book; books of such nature which Amos does not sell. With internet and mail order, returns are generally more work than they are worth, thus sold as discards or actually destroyed and placed into the waste stream.

Are they the 'victim' of their own error? IF this has happened in quantity, it is unfortunate for them, but clearly someone dropped the ball in packaging. My two identical volumes were sealed, back to back, with their front covers both visible thru the heavy shrink wrap.

Parcelpostguy: Apparently you are the self-designated professor of English here, and so, I beg your pardon. Literally. Perhaps a more accurate term for Amos to use might have been "recycle"?

At this point we do not know if Amos proper, specifically a company employee or a contractor processed the stock irregularly. If done in mass, I do see a job at risk if not lost.
