Hi, found this one in an old feeder album:

Scott doesn't mention anything about quadrille paper, so I'm assuming that it was either manufactured or something else. Anyone aware of quadrille paper found on any of the Vasco de Gama issues?

Thanks for your help, Ray

Opinion:
That has been mounted on private quadrille paper, and the ink has transferred to the stamp. It is not part of the genuine stamp.
You can note some of the fugitive blue paper ink, on the face of the stamp.

Your opinions are usually spot on Rod!
I could see the grids on the front also, and I don't remember seeing the grids on the front of the France quadrille paper stamp.

Thanks-- this makes sense.

If anyone else has information, please jump on in!

Ray

Believe Rod's conclusion is accurate.

Just checked specialty catalogue. No mention of "quadrille" paper or printing.

I have seen lines on the backs of stamps using index cards as a stiffener in a glassine, and this looks like the same thing. Moisture from storage will transfer the ink.

ORSTAMPMAN ----Believe you are correct , having remove many stamps from quadrille paper and lined index cards that moisture played a part for ink transfer .
