I have a nice polar cover from 1929 posted aboard the "SS City of New York" to a Major Anthony Fiala. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Major Fiala was quite the man...as he had been an Artic explorer, soldier, etc. I can only guess that maybe he knew some of the Antarctic explorers on the trip that this cover represents. Certainly, he would have known R.E.Byrd, and I wish I had the enclosure that would have been sent in this cover.

This image is from a powerpoint that I presented to my local stamp club...the subject being Major Fiala himself.

How well do we know Mr. Byrd ?
I have this photo cut out, received in an huge "she says they must go!" auction lot in 2005
I have it as R.E.Byrd, but have no idea if that is correct.
What say you?
Any existing signatures?

Thanks Rick!
Must say, I pat myself on the back for that,
At the time, I recall being in 2 minds to bin it,
I often get personal pics, seals, etc in my junk purchases.
Then, as usual, just popped it into the "cinderella" album
along with the other nondescript seals, cigar strips, chocolate stickers.

I could read "Byrd" but thought it a long shot, the pic looked so modern.

He was rather a handsome fellow. (Sort of a "Paul Newman" lookalike)

Apologies,
I just checked where it may be. (location and source)

I actually bought this from a lot of cinderellas from SCF member "revenue collector"

That's why it was in with the cigar bands.
