Nurse weighing an infant in a children's clinic, designed by Belgian artist Jean Van Noten (1903-1982), printed by photogravure (Courvoisier, S.A.), and issued by Rwanda on December 30, 1963 as one of a set of eight stamps commemorating the centenary of the Red Cross, Scott No. 44.

Here's a few.
First to Estonia, 1921 and 1922, later overprinted/surcharged.




Now we go to Ethiopia. Once again, both these issues were later overprinted. I like the violet posthorn cancellation on the 15c stamp.






Now a short hop across the Gulf of Aden to Yemen. These were later overprinted by republicans during the civil war.




Finally to Iceland and these two stamps from the 1949 charity stamps issue.

During World War I, Queen Marie of Romania (1875-1938) and her three daughters acted as nurses in military hospitals, caring for soldiers who were wounded or afflicted by cholera. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Queen Marie as a nurse, printed by photogravure, and issued by Romania on October 15, 1922, Scott No. 286, plus an image of a photograph of Queen Marie attending a patient in a military hospital in 1917.

Here are images of the two similar engraved stamps in a set depicting a nurse, a child, and a hospital, designed (and engraved?) by Jean Dandine, and issued by Morocco on April 8, 1968 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the World Health Organization, Scott Nos. 189 & 190.

Nurse and patient, an airmail stamp designed by Carlos Marckwordt, printed by lithography, and issued by Guatemala on September 6, 1950 as one of a set of four stamps promoting the National Hospital Fund, Scott No. C177.

The Azad Hind Stamps are a set of Cinderella stamps designed by German artist Werner von Axster-Heudtlass (1898-1949), and printed by photogravure in 1943 in Nazi Germany for Subhas Chandra Bose's Azad Hind (Indian National Army). Here is an image of a stamp from the set depicting a military nurse and a patient.
