Stanley Gibbons describes the stamp (SG1612) as "Deaconess and nurse". Anyway, the deaconesses all received nursing training, and nursing was an important part of their work.

geilichina ....... That one sort of creeps me out.... Maybe it's the nurse/ninja looking shadow face... My wife is a nurse as well and I made her a little box for work with the US nurse stamps on it for her locker. I'm a fireman/EMT ... I know there are a couple firemen stamps but does anyone know about an EMT stamp?
