Here is an image of a Red Cross semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting a young nurse, printed by photogravure (Waterlow & Sons, Ltd.), and issued by Cuba on September 22, 1959, Scott No. B4. Note: The Latin motto inscribed on this stamp, In hoc signo Salus, may be translated as "In this sign is health." Salus ("Salvation") was a Roman goddess, the personification of well-being (health and prosperity) of both the individual and the state. She is sometimes equated with the Greek goddess Hygieia, though her functions differ considerably.
