The size of this 30 centime Sage,French stamp is smaller than other stamps. Isn't all stamps from this issue suppose to be with the same size and shape ? The stamp at left is for comparison.

The size of the physical stamp (perf-to-perf) will vary a little bit since the technology for perforating wasn't perfect. I would not expect them to all be the same size in that respect. The printed design, however, should be the same, unless it was designed to be different. Also, bear in mind that environmental conditions could cause the paper to shrink a little bit over 100+ years. It is POSSIBLE but not terribly common. |

rogdcam, I have tried to this but the size of the perforated area is still smaller than the other stamp.
mootermutt987, The explanation offered by you is very interesting. I understand tath most of the stamps from this period are not perfectly made and one could encounter stamps with shifting of the perforations ore other similar errors. I have heard about this before. I have asked a aphilatelist about a nother Sage type stamp tath was diferente from other I have and he also told me tath paper could shrink during the printing process or after tath. I will keep this one in my section with curiousty stamps. Thank you both for expressing opinion about my stamp . |

It still appears to me that, if you overlay one stamp on the other, the size of the designs will be identical - the perfs may be a different matter, as others have said. |

The design sizes are the same as shown here The overall (including the perforation) size differences are not relevant. Don |

I got the impression OP was referring to the vertical size. I do think they are similar. Also, I think that the vertical size with perforations will proof to be roughly similar. It is not just the bottom of the right-hand stamp that is higher, also the top is.
Much of the apparent height difference may be just caused by the way they are shown. |

Thanks Don. It is very clear the image size is the same for both stamps as suggested. |

I agree tath the size of the image of the two stamps is the same. It was the size if the perforated area tath bothered me at first. It's possible tath it's from the photo I have made. I understand tath the size of the white perforated section could vary a little, but the stamp from the link below has size of the perforations 14x13¼ ,isn't it supposed to be 14x13½ ? All catalogs I have in my library are giving description only of the combination 14x13½ . How could this diference be explained? |

Catalogues customarily round up or down - so 13 1/4 would be rounded up to 13 1/2. |

Post_pe - Please don't take this as picking on you but every single time you mean to say "that" it is written as "tath". |

rogdcam, There is no problem . I didn't realize I was making this mistake at all. I apologize but my English is not on very high level. It is possible that I have made such mistakes before. I will take a note from your remark and check my post more carefully |
