I am curious if there are many collectors who collect this series of revenue stamps. I have not found much listed on line about these stamps. Also, I have not been able to find pages to mount this collection. It is really hard to mount the tobacco strips because they are longer than standard pages and mounts.

Most of the mint copies of the Series 123, 124, and 125 stamps of the various cigarette, cigar, snuff and tobacco tax paids come from the National Postal Museum that disgorged a lot of remainders about 15 years ago. Mystic Stamp purchased many of the lots and I think produced album pages for them. They have been a major marketer of these remainders that came from the IRS after stamps were discontinued in mid-1960.

The tobacco taxpaids were cataloged in a series of handbooks by Sherwood Springer, the ninth and tenth editions contain the most recent listings of these stamps.

Well, get away from 8.5x11. Three-hole punched US letter is a bane of philately, IMO.

Re Springer, he published 10 editions of catalogs ("handbooks" as he called them), and for cigarettes you'll want to get a copy of the 9th edition.

Re alternative albums, I have a SAFE "Luxus" album which accommodates long tobacco and cigar stamps up to about 16.5" long. Pages (transparent sleeves) come with black separator pages made of thin card. Pages can be purchased with 1, 2, 4, or 8 pockets. Here's a link:

A good friend is a veteran taxpaid collector and has literally dozens of these albums for his taxpaids and other larger-than-normal items.

I've attached a few pics from my album. As you'll see, in one case I've taken to mounting large taxpaid stamps right on the black backing pages.

You're welcome, and it's my pleasure.

He's been at this for over 70 years the mind just boggles at the extent of his collection!

I imagine that most of the taxpaids from the 1950s aren't nearly as long as the ones I pictured, but I shared these to show that there are alternatives to off-the-shelf albums and ways to display them.

Thank you everyone. I have made a copy of the Springer list from Eric Jackson. I have been a slave to the 8.5x11 and the Scott pages. I will take a serious look at the SAFE albums. -Rich-
