For those of you who collect Canadian stationery, the advent of Personalized Mail created quite a headache. There was/is no way that one could/can acquire ALL the possible examples since their production is limitless.
I limited myself to an exemplar of each variety, such as Addressed Admail, Letter Mail, Dimensional Mail, Publications Mail, and their French counterparts, as well as Return Postage Guaranteed.
Now it's just Personalized Mail, I guess.
Then, in May 2016, Canada Post
began adding them to their "Details" and "endétail" magazines, starting with the dinosaur issue. With this came the chance to collect a finite series of stationery products issued by Canada Post
itself. With this month's issue (RCMP), there have been 69 English and 66 French items.
It would be easy, I guess, to make cut squares of them, but no true stationery collector would think of doing that. Webb's won't list anything in that condition... so it's the whole thing to be collected.
But how? A nice wooden box, made to size, like the OFDC's?
My solution was to use Vario pages - 5 horizontal sleeves. Four issues can be inserted per page, two in the first row and two in the second. The trick is to use the Vario page upside down
so that the four indicia appear at the bottom.
(Full disclosure: I keep only the outside page of the magazine.)
Then... store the binder upside down
so that the issues will not fall out when on the shelf!
On the left side of this page, I have the French counterparts.
All 135 folders are on 18 sleeves and fit into a 2-inch binder, which has its label printed upside down.
Now... if I could just figure out how to store and display my collection of uncut press sheets! There are only 71 of them!
