I won a nice lot of British Commonwealth stamps that was on auction today.
In the lot were a few stamps that give me questions.
First up are these 2 Bahrain ovpt's on a KGV stamp. (multiple stars wm)
Both Michel and SG don't mention the difference in position of the ovpt.
I have not seen one before with the ovpt this high. Is this very unusual?
The font seems a little different, may be fake?

Peter

The illustration in Scott shows the overprint to be about 2/3 the way down, much like your second example. The first example does look a bit sketchy- the "B" is malformed as is the "R." Note the blobs/globs of ink at the bottom of each vertical line of ink.

In general, the overprint is much less sharp in the first example, and significantly lighter/unevenly inked. Not sure what it means though.

P.S. Gibbons does not mention this type of variety on any value from the KGV overprints on India.
