Found this 25c Grosbeak - it seems to glow red under UV. is that how the untagged variety looks or some variety not listed in my 2021 Scott Specialized?

Axmx, you can find a tagging listing in Stampsmarter.org. It sometimes shows varieties that are not found in Scott

The booklet version of the Owl and Grosbeak stamp is known containing untagged panes. Your stamp at top right likely is a single from such a booklet pane. Here's an idea of how it looks like under uvc 254nm light (some ambient light present) At top: tagged pane (some freak tagging) At bottom: untagged pane (untagged panes are rare) |

I believe the OP's picture shows all of these stamps are from booklet panes

As far as I know, the only U.S. stamps that glow red under short UV are air mail issues from the 1963-1979 era. The grosbeak should appear greenish ... or, if untagged, not show any glow at all. |

OP used a cheap uv lamp, and the wrong wavelength. Depending on with what you photograph, the colours can be way off as well compared to what the eyes see. My picture above would suggest a slight reddish reaction on the untagged pane, but this is a result of the s*y camera on the back of my Samsung tablet (I didn't do any color correction since it's about the greenish glow of the standard panes). |

"I believe the OP's picture shows all of these stamps are from booklet panes"
Since these designs were only ever issued in booklet form, this is expected. |

The stamps shown are all tagged from what I can tell. The tagging brightness on these can vary where some are not as bright as others. The untagged version would appear more purplish as shown in the booklet examples. The UV light used appears that it may not be filtered appropriately. |

drkohler, you are 100% right - bought a shiny new Leuchtturm (to swap out my very old Leuchtturm) and the 254nm wavelength produced this new pic - obviously this is just an untagged variety. |
