Am seeking catalogue-like resources specific to India States.

Started with Scott. Then moved on to Stanley Gibbons specialized catalogue.

Am now seeking the "next step" in specialty catalogues. A resource which hopefully will include postage stamp varieties not included in Scott or SG. Such as perforations, watermarks, shades, etc.

Am not interested in venturing into postal stationery at this point.

Thanks in advance.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue is the best general listing, and includes variations of paper, perforation, watermark, shade, etc.

There is no currently available more comprehensive catalogue, although there are handbooks and monographs available for some states.

My recommendation is that you join the India Study Circle:

www.indiastudycircle.org

This would give you access to their digital library, which includes their journal India Post, their handbook which has sections on Alwar, Bamra, Bhopal, Bundi, Soruth and Wadhwan, and a vast further range of publications and journal articles.

Gibbons has had several specialized India States auctions in recent times. Might be worth seeking out a few Philatelic Literature dealers who may have copies for sale.

If your going to get into the INDIAN NATIVE STATES , the book you need to have is the A.P.S. book --The Yucatan Affair . This book has a chapter on all the forgeries made and sold by R.C. de Thuin .
