Hope this is the appropriate place to post this... I'm pleased to announce that my article, "Decoding the 1868 Continental Taxpaid Tobacco Stamps" has been published in the Second Quarter of The American Revenuer, the journal of The American Revenue Association (www.revenuer.org).

Many years in the making, the article is the first of its kind to explore the origin and use of these stamps and stamp imprints, and to illustrate all 34 of them in one place.

Just received mine yesterday but haven't had a chance yet to open the envelope. Looks like an interesting exhibit.

Also looking forward to reading the article about some Suggestions for the Revision of the Revenue section of Scott's catalogue. A long time coming IMO if they are implemented.

Congratulations on the Cover Story. At almost 20 pages (including pictures) that looks like a meaty article. Great work.

TAR came in the mail within a few days of my copies of Western Express (Western Cover Society) and the Penny Post (Carriers & Locals Society). Finally got a chance to read it. Really enjoyed your article - a new perspective on the tobacco taxpaids. I had always just assumed that the different Springer categories (TF, TG) were the result of different laws.

Thanks to all who replied, and I appreciate your kind words about it.

SPQR, I'm glad I was able to clear up that distinction re the TFs and TGs. I was mystified by that for the longest time myself. I came to understand why catalogers such as Springer, Bartlett & Norton, etc. organized these stamps by inscription or usage, but in the case of the TGs the distinction seems to have been made based on shape. Anyway, glad to have been able to clear that up.
