Ink Loss Beneath Phosphor Bands

Not seen this before. I wondered if anyone else had, or had any thoughts on how it happened?

Obvoiusly, stamp is printed first. Then phosphor is added in side bars on top of the ink. Then the cancellation on top of that.

As you can see, some of the blue ink is lost along the way - most noticeably causing the virtual deletion of the dark parts. I'm keeping this, filed under errors, freaks and oddities.

For this stamp, that should hold true, but it is not a fact that phosphor bars are always printed over the ink. There are plenty examples of 'phosphor under ink.'

An interesting stamp.

This looks like something caused the phosphorous ink to dissolve the ink. There is a good chance the phosphor came into contact with some substance or gas that caused a chemical reaction. Looking at the 'ANDS' of 'ISLANDS' and the '0' in the date the ink of the cancellation may also have been affected.
