The Lao Scouts movement was established in 1948 in Luang Prabang. It had about 2300 young scout active members. The movement motto was Triam Phrom, Prepared in Lao, and Sois Pret, Be Prepared in French. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the movement, the Kingdom of Laos issued on September 1, 1973 a set of three stamps depicting Lao scouts.
To publicize the 13th world jamboree held on August 2-10, 1971, in Fujinomiya, Japan, a set of 16 stamps depicting boy scouts from the Middle and Far East was issued by Manama, one of the Gulf Emirates, in 1971 .
