This sheet is a composition exercise made with proofs of stamps and parts of banknotes and other vignettes cut out and pasted to form decorative frames.
They were made by the young apprentices at the ABNCo N.Y. art school in 1893-95.

I know this one from Chile and another made only with revenue and telegraph stamps, and I have also seen others made with stamps from Canada and Brazil. But there must be from other countries too.
They came onto the market when the Company's archives were auctioned in 1988 and 1990.

I just saw that composition sheet of Chilean stamps -- quite attractive! Last summer I was lucky enough to visit the numismatic gallery at the Yale Art Museum, where they have a HUGE collage that ABNC put together. https://artgallery.yale.edu/collect...jects/220011

The collage you posted looks like it was printed -- I see no edges where the proofs were attached. Printing each individual stamp and the other elements onto the sheet would have taken a lot more work. I hadn't heard that these were the work of ABNC apprentices. Can you share where you learned of this?

The information is in the auction catalog of these ABNC archives ( Christie's Robson Lowe N.Y - 28 Sep.1988).
Articles about this Auction and catalog were published in the Chile Filatelico magazine of Sociedad Filatelica de Chile (nr.246 Oct/Dec 1988 and nr.248 May/Aug 1989).

The images posted here were taken from those articles. That's why they look like they were printed.
I have personally seen the sheet/collage made with Chilean postage stamps (the ones in the previous post) and I can say that it's made with proofs cut out and pasted on the sheet.
These two sheets : Lot #402 (Chilean postage stamps) and Lot #418 (Chilean tax, telegraph and consular stamps) were obtained by a fellow of the Sociedad.

These ABNC archives sale included similar lots with material from Canada, USA, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Argentina.
Postage stamps, taxes, tobacco, medicine, telegraphs, banknote vignettes, etc. were used in these collages.

I forgot to say that both sheets measure 11 5/16 x 13 3/4 inches.
