Fossils, issued by Chad on December 11, 1998.

- Harlania enigmatica, probably marine invertebrate, 438-370 MY ago.

- Spirophyton is a trace fossil (ichnofossil) with spiral burrows, likely made by ancient marine invertebrates in Paleozoic seas. The exact identity of the organism that created Spirophyton remains unknown, but its traces provide valuable insights into ancient marine ecosystems and sediment interactions.

- Fossil site, dunes of Djourab, Chad. This region is famous for its rich fossil deposits, including remains of ancient vertebrates and early human ancestors.

- Abel jaw - Abel the name given to the only specimen ever discovered of Australopithecus bahrelghazali. Abel was found in January 1995 in Chad in the Kanem Region by the French paleontologist Michel Brunet. Of Abel remains only part of a jaw, which explains the little information concerning its way of life

The set contains three more stamps not related to fossils but show prehistoric cave paintings from Chad.

Miniature sheet issued by Great Britain in 2024 to commemorate the famous palaeontologist and fossil-hunter Mary Anning (1799 - 1847). She lived in Lyme Regis in Dorset and collected fossils from the local cliffs and beaches. She found an ichthyosaur skeleton when only 12 years old and is now considered a pioneer geologist, although ironically the Geological Society of London did not admit women as members until half a century after her death.

A fossil fuel is a carbon compound or hydrocarbon-containing material formed naturally in the Earth's crust from the buried remains of prehistoric organisms (animals, plants or planktons), a process that occurs within geological formations. Reservoirs of such compound mixtures, such as coal, petroleum and natural gas, can be extracted and burnt as fuel for human consumption to provide energy for direct use.

Fossil Fuels, issued by the USA on April 29, 1982 to publicize the 1982 World Fair, Knoxville, Tennessee.

FDC cachet show fossil plant.

Istvan Vitalis ( 1871 – 1947 ) was a geologist, paleontologist, university professor, and a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences . He contributed to the development of coal mining in Hungary with his coal field surveys in many parts of the Carpathian Basin , and his paleontological research is also significant .

Hungary issued in 1981 a postal stationary to commemorate Vitalis. It contains printed stamp of Vitalis and the cachet shows fossilized shell, probably from the Eocene period.
