There's got to be more postcards out there in the world than just what I see here! I challenge everyone to post one post card with a little history about it or why you have it.

Thanks so much for feeding my post card habit!

I had posted some old ones from India earlier. Here is one more.

What do I find most interesting about them? Most postcards/letters in my collection are written in Hindi, but the way in which the language is written is often so different from how it is written nowadays.

No inter-character spacing is used in the modern style of writing (but space is given between words, just like English) and a separate 'bar' is used over each word. This example can be seen in the bottom half of the following postcard.

In the following examples, the characters are spaced (almost) evenly and the 'bar' extends over the entire line.

Some examples show a 'double bar' (instead of the usual single bar seen in most) above the sentences.

A few examples also have the bar confined to individual (equispaced) characters!

This is the only postcard I have. The picture is Biggin Hill aerodrome in England. It played a major part in the Battle of Britain, during the war and was located not far from where I lived in England. I do have some recollection of visiting there at some point in my childhood. The stamp is possibly the last stamp I collected while living in England as the postcard is dated 20 Sept 1969 and I flew out from there on 08 Oct 1969.

or why you have it.

I have these because I collect material to send penpals. literally correspondence to "the Pen" since our penpals are incarcerated. I and others post/share our findings online and so try to make our correspondence a little more fun. With poster board or a recycled cereal box, any image can become a postcard.

A postcard thread !!
Never posted here before.

I have hundreds of postcards.
All lying unloved in a box in the bedroom cupboard.
They are hidden behind my clothes in case the wife should spot them !!

I will try to scan a few when she is not looking.

Some nice old ones from my grandfather and father.

Ah! The memories.

Londonbus1.....loves reminiscing
