Hi everyone,

I wonder if you could help me with more information on this stamp.

It's a King George V, 1p red. I've established the following:

  • Perf 14.25 x 14.00

  • Watermark 5

  • Rose Red Colour

Any idea if it is a line machine or comb perf?
Do the punctures add anything to the stamp?

Thanks so much.

It's comb-perforated. You can tell by checking the corners: comb-perforated stamps have neat quarter-circles cut out in all four corners; line-perforated stamps have irregularly shaped corners.

So the basic stamp is SG 21cd.

But the perfin ("OS NSW") makes this an official stamp of the New South Wales state government. It's interesting, but unlikely to have any extra commercial value. You'll need an expert to tell you more than that.

It's a nice, basic stamp. I've never seen the OS/NSW perfin add any additional value to any stamp.
