Thanks CanadaStamp I have that Canada Post new issue announcement and all of them back to 1960.
But there is no engraver mentioned and that's what
I'm looking for.

Do you know who engraved that stamp?

No but as it is an Inuit stone cut I assume(d) it was simply a copy of the original.

Just to return for a moment to my query on the previous page; you were right as always, lithograving, in that Florián did indeed manage to decipher the message. It reads:

Probe-Druck
angefertigt von den
in Buenos Ayres
als Kupferstecher im
Staatsdienste
stehenden öster-
reichischen Kupfer-
stecher
Schirnböck

So it was Schirnböck after all, who engraved this original, unadopted essay.

Here's another question for you all!

In 1928, Perkins Bacon issued a single $1 stamp for Kelantan. The engraving was by A J Downey.

So far so simple.

In 1937, De La Rue issued a set of definitives for Kelantan.

As you can see from both images, they are fairly alike. I don't have any of these stamps and from these images I can't really make out (though I guess so) whether the engraving of the portrait is actually the same or not.

Do any of you have these two stamps so you can compare the two engravings (maybe upload good scans) and see whether Downey was also the engraver of the 1937 portrait?

Not in my 1969 Gibbons.
Closest Engraver 1928 Ras Taffari was A. Delzers and A Mignon.

Perhaps Institut de Gravure may have a list of Engravers of their stamps?

Bravo! Classic paper.

Possibly Pierre Munier ?
He did the 1931 Ethiopian definitives
The artwork style matches in my opinion.

PS: LG's stamp has hairlines from the ductor blade?

Thanks CP and rod.
Yes it appears there is a good posibility that Munier was the engraver.
