When I received French stamps like these in the late 1950s I was
thrilled how colourful they looked even though they were
only 2 colour
engraved.

At that time I had no idea how these stamps were printed or who
the engravers were and didn't really care either.
Fast forward 60+ years and now I think I know a bit about the engraving process
and who engraved these beautiful stamps.
