This is a super interesting one. It is plated to 92L2L - [Scott-listed] triple transfer (also the LIFL runs up too high and down too low). . .but that's not all.. .I have a pretty decent color reference for these stamps, and this stamp is Orange Brown. . .a plate 2L Orange Brown or maybe "Mid-1852 Orange Brown" on a premium position! I may send this one for a certificate.

Hi Philazilla,

That's an impressive stamp, and even more amazing as a plate 2L orange brown! Thanks for sharing.

US #9 1c Blue, Type. IV relief B, Positions 42-47R1L, strip of six,
four positions show recut's once at top and twice at bottom.
(only 21 total on the plate, of which (43, 45, 46 & 47R1L),
4 Large margins to just in, neat pen cancel.
Position 42 small corner crease.
overall Very Fine, an unusual large used multiple.

45R1L Class A is the only position with 3 guide dots of all 200 positions, also is a EC recut.
Surface crack Plate 1 Late started to develop fine surface cracks, probably late in 1854 or early in 1855.
I think 15 positions are worthy of mention, but there are others which are
so very minute they do not deserve notice, 45R1L is one of the 15 mentioned. although I don't see a crack in E, this may be due to early impression before 1854.

Hi Phade122,

Nice Northfield MS cover. The stamp is a #11A, and I have plated it. Do you want to give plating it another try?

All,

I have been away for some time but getting back to my US calander of dates on #11s. I am mostly focused on the dates, but I try to plate them when I think I have reasonable clues. With the single line in the UL triangle and the LR Guide Dot, I came up with 87L3. The guide dot seems to match rather well but the right inner frame line seems to run higher on the various on-line examples vs mine. Any help in confirming or pointing me in the right direction is appreciated.

Thank You
Hobsun

Hi Hobsun,

It's nice to see you back.

You are correct that the right inner line runs up farther on 87L3 than it does on your stamp. Taking into consideration possible damage to the top of the RIL, I checked all guide dot positions on plates 2L and 3, and found a better match than 87L3.

Let me know if you'd like to take another shot at plating this one. If you can post a larger image without file size reduction, that would be helpful.

Don't want to interrupt the conversation but I have something to tell to Laurie02.

Sorry @Laurie02 for not have plated your 3 cents Washington stamps yet, I discovered many areas of philately and focused on other philatelic areas, but will plate them soon.

Sorry again,

CS
