Kyrgyzstan 2021 Petroglyphs of Saimaluu Tash
Saimaluu Tash is a petroglyph site in the Fergana Range at 3200 meters above sea level. The site features as many as 98000 drawings on over 10000 stones. Most drawings are from the Bronze Age (2500 - 900 BC) and depict animals, humans, hunting scenes, and sun cult symbols.

Germany 2025 EUROPA National Archaeological Discoveries
Swabian Jura in southern Germany is home to modern humans first arrived in Europe 43000 years ago during the last Ice Age. A large number of carved figurines of animals, musical instruments and items of personal adornment were found in caves in this area. They represent some of the oldest figurative art worldwide.

Moldova 2024 Museum Patrimony Day
This stamp depicts incised design vases from the Usatove culture, a mixed farming-steppe culture which flourished on and near the west and northwest coast of the Black Sea in the Copper Age (ca. 3650–2740 BC).

Gibraltar 2025 National Archaeological Discoveries
The Gibraltar Neanderthal skulls are among the most significant fossil discoveries in Europe. The Gorham's Cave Complex on the eastern side of the Rock of Gibraltar is a site of Neanderthal habitation over a period of more than 100,000 years. Studies suggest Neanderthals lived here until around 32,000 years ago, long after they had disappeared from much of Europe.

Austria 2025 National Archaeological Discoveries
Hallstatt burial ground is a significant archaeological site in Austria. Some 4000 people were buried here between 1000 and 500 BC. Artifacts discovered here provide important insights into the Hallstatt culture, the predominant Western and Central European culture of the Late Bronze to Early Iron Age. The stamp features a plan of the burial site from 19th century and a bronze ladle adorned with animal figures.

Croatia 2025 EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries
Vucedol culture flourished between 3000 and 2200 BC (the Chalcolithic period) in Syrmia and eastern Slavonia. The stamp showcases Vucedol Dove, one of the most famous pieces of ritual vessel made between 2800 and 2500 BC.

Serbia 2025 EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries
Lepenski Vir and Vinca are two archaeological sites on the banks of Danube. The 60d stamp shows an anthropomorphic figurine from the Vinca culture (Neolithic), the 120d stamp depicts a sandstone figurine from the Lepenski Vir culture (Mesolithic).

The minisheet shows Child from Lapedo, a complete, 28000 years old skeleton found in a rock shelter in the Lapedo valley in central Portugal. The child is believed to be a member of a hunter-gatherer group and exhibits a hybrid of Neanderthal and an anatomically modern human features.

Turkey 2025 EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries
Çatalhöyük is one of the most extraordinary settlements of Anatolia between 7400 and 6200 BC. The Neolithic city, on an area of ca.14 hectares, contains the first settlement plan sketch and painting, the first weavings, and the mother goddess cult. The stamp design consists of Çatalhöyük excavation site, figures in wall paintings, and a pottery with a human face motif.

North Macedonia 2025 EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries
Isar near the Village of Marvinci is one of the leading archaeological sites in the Balkans. The site is known for the discovery of the tomb of a Paionian priestess of the Iron Age. The stamp shows a modern bronze statue of the priestess at the Archaeological Museum in Skopje.

Armenia 2025 EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries
Karashamb is the site of a major archaeological excavation of a Bronze Age burial ground. The stamp shows ceremonial jar (1900 to 1800 BC) used for pouring wine during ritual ceremonies. A stamp issued in 1993 features a 2100 BC old silver-plated goblet found in a royal sepulcher.

The Cucuteni – Trypillia culture (5000-4000 BC) spread across the territory of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine It is characterized by settlements, often of considerable size, with a complex internal structure.
