Fossil Shells, issued by Mauritania on July 31, 1972.

- Spirifer - a genus of marine brachiopods, Middle Ordovician (Sandbian) through to the Late Triassic (Carnian), 490-200 MY ago, with a global distribution.
- Gryphaea - a genus of extinct oysters, marine bivalve mollusks.


Stamps were revalued and reissued on January 28, 1974.

Palaeoloxodon recki, often known by the synonym Elephas recki, is an extinct species of elephant native to Africa and West Asia from the Pliocene or Early Pleistocene to the Middle Pleistocene (5 MY - 130,000 yeas). During most of its existence, the species (in its broad sense) represented the dominant elephant species in East Africa.

Slovenia issued during years 1993-2020 a series of 12 stamps about "Fossils of Slovenia". Here are four of them.

Fossils of Dolzan Gorge: Schwagerina Carniolica, marine foraminifera, a type of single-celled protist that has a shell, Late Paleozoic era, especially Permian period (~299–252 million years ago) - 1993

Paladin (Kaskia) bedici, Trilobite, Late Carboniferous, about 290 million years ago - 2000

Starfish fossil - 2001

Hairfly (Bibio), insect from the Oligocene - 2002

The 50th anniversary of the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow, issued by India on September 1, 1997. The first two stamps show plant fossils and the rest two stamps show reconstructions of prehistoric plants.

Archaeopteryx fossil discovered in Solnhofen limestone in Bavaria and described by Hermann von Meyer on postmark applied in Solnhofen in 1986.



Same fossil on UK stamp issued on August 3, 1999 dedicated to Charles Darwin evolution theory.
