I am using the Scott Large Green 3-Ring Specialty Binder + Scott Album pages + Scott/Showgard mounts.
Might there by any recommended or suggested maximum number of pages per album that takes into account the added thickness of stamps + their mounts?
I read through the thread regarding "album bulge" and did not see anything specific in this regard.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

D.D 73.----Use 1/2 of the amount that the manufacturer suggest for capacity.

I agree with floortrader.
As a booklet collector, I usually end up with 1/3 to 1/2 of the page numbers the manufacturers suggest.

Self-adhesive stamps (on liner) decrease the pages even more.

In addition to using less pages you can alleviate bulging by using shims/spacers every ten pages or so at the ring side. Palo actually sells these spacers but I make my own.

To expand upon rodgcam's post regarding spacers, I've used this same concept in binders for electronic repair manuals. I have a set of Sam's Photofacts which are bound in post binders which are 4" thick. By the 60s, Sam's was using pockets so the folders could be removed for use when repairing equipment. The pockets fill up and are "fat" compared to the binding point, so I've made little spacers from old cereal boxes. Just punch holes to match your binder and add as needed. If you prefer nicer material, use finer cardstock, posterboard, or whatever.

You can add as many as needed to fill in space, or just interleave them in a regular pattern. This makes the spine and the posts more secure. Pages don't try to "tear out" as easily and you'll have a better "feel" of the book.

With a stamp album with more uniform "puffiness" from stamp holders, probably a spacer or two every page should do the trick.

My Photofacts are much better thanks to this!

Josh
